Biography

Michelle Soraya pourtabib, Md

Dr. Michelle Soraya Pourtabib, MD, comes from a long lineage of healers. Her great-great-grandfather, great-grandfather, and father were all physicians. Her last name translates to "child of a physician."

Before attending medical school, Dr. Pourtabib was the founder/owner of Soraya Yoga, Inc., a wellness company where she offered yoga, pilates, meditation, ayurvedic massage, and dance classes. Her calling to medicine came when her students continued to ask her for medical guidance on their ailments, which sparked her desire to learn more about both Eastern and Western medicine.

Dr. Pourtabib is a board-certified obesity (bariatric) and family medicine physician specializing in Functional Medicine. She has completed clinical rotations in Palm Springs, CA, with Dr. Steven Gundry at his Center for Restorative Medicine in Functional Medicine and with Dr. Ramy Awad at Desert Bariatrics in Bariatric Medicine and Surgery. She is on medical staff at Tahoe Forest Hospital in Truckee, CA. Dr. Pourtabib is happy to serve as the only Board-Certified Obesity Medicine Specialist in North Lake Tahoe and the surrounding areas.

Applying the knowledge she learned from her obesity medicine fellowship, Dr. Pourtabib has lost over 30 lbs.
